Information events on heavy rain

Heavy rain can occur anywhere - even in Freiburg. With climate change, such extreme events are occurring more and more frequently. In addition, the warning time is often short or non-existent. However, good precautions can protect against major dangers and consequential damage. In line with the state guidelines, the city of Freiburg is therefore developing a heavy rain risk management system. Last year, experts were commissioned by the administration to draw up heavy rain hazard maps that show where the water will flow in an emergency.

On the maps, anyone can see on a plot-by-plot basis how at risk their own apartment or house could be in an emergency and take appropriate precautions. The publication of the maps will be accompanied by eight information events in various districts and towns. More information on the topic and the heavy rain hazard maps can be found at: www.freiburg.de/starkregen.
