In Search of Geographical Reenchantment

The replacement of the place-specific by the generic is a typical feature of our time.

Our cities are also affected by this. In the name of modernity, innovation and improvement, diversity, surprise and the unexpected in our urban landscapes are standardized, sterilized and often lose touch with the human experience.

Winogrond's projects explore the site-specific, poetic potential of seemingly banal, contemporary urban landscapes. Under the working title In Search of Geographical Reenchantment, her projects express the site-specific, poetic potential of suburban and urban places, transforming their inherent identity and contradictions into powerful experiences. Her work builds on her theoretical engagement with atmosphere, imagination, the phenomenology of space, environmental psychology and the activation of social spaces.

Robin Winogrond is a landscape architect and urban planner based in Zurich, Switzerland. She works internationally on projects, on juries, gives lectures, teaches and publishes. She is co-founder of Studio Vulkan Landschaftsarchitektur, where she was a partner from 2014-2020. She is currently the owner of Studio Robin Winogrond | Landscape Architecture and Urban Design.
