"I only think music - a return to the future" // SONG EVENING with Katharina Persicke (soprano) and Philip Rivinius (piano)

Price: from 19.00€ to 13.00€

"I only think about music. I am in love with music, I think of nothing but it and of other things only when music makes me more beautiful."

This quote from Johannes Brahms describes the basic feeling of the recital that Katharina Persicke (soprano) and Philip Rivinius (piano) will present on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 8 p.m. in the Weinschlösschen Freiburg (Wilhelmstr. 17a). The artists ask themselves what unites the music of the German Johannes Brahms, the Austrian Gustav Mahler and the French composers Gabriel Fauré and Henri Duparc and what distinguishes them on their way into the modern era. Brahms in particular was often accused of being a traditionalist who supposedly went backwards, while Mahler clearly ventured into new worlds of sound. The French tonal language is traditionally different from the German/Austrian aesthetic. Nevertheless, it is exciting to see how harmoniously all four composers can be combined to form a picture. The settings of the evening convey a diverse sound aesthetic - retrospective and forward-looking at the same time, but above all one thing: describing the feeling behind the text! The result is a love story that brings many facets of human emotion to life: Infatuation, crush, happiness, insecurity, melancholy, passion, grief, loss, pain and hope.

TICKETS are available at www.klangwerklied.de, at the specialist music store musicus (Salzstraße 41/43) and at the box office.
