Interview: Janis Joplin and Julie Driscoll
Thursday, 08/05/2025 / 12:30 PM - 01:30 PM / Museum für Neue Kunst (Museum of contemporary art)
On the occasion of the exhibition "Marta! Dolls, Pop & Poetry", the Museum of Contemporary Art invites you to a discussion with the cultural scientist and critic Diedrich Diederichsen. The topic is "Janis Joplin and Julie Driscoll - Two cultural, geographical, musical antagonists". Marta Kuhn-Weber's works include dolls of Janis Joplin and Julie Driscoll, two influential protagonists of the 1960s counterculture. Both singers were oriented towards African-American blues and soul, but embodied contrasting styles: Driscoll appeared stylized and artificial, Joplin represented the formless hippie culture. Participants will learn more about their music and their stage performances. Participation costs the regular entrance fee. The number of participants is limited.
