Freiburg water stories - from the Dreisam to the industrial canal (guided tour)

In cooperation with VISTAtour and ARGE Freiburger Stadtbild - In the beginning was the water: this guided tour follows the traces of water from the Dreisam to the old town, taking in dykes, fountains, canals, Griene, Bächle and mysterious moors. It also takes a closer look at the Schwabentor Bridge, which is characterized by traffic noise. During the tour, you will learn exciting stories and little-known details about Freiburg's water: what were the Bächle used for, who built the industrial canals - and what is behind the Runzgenossenschaft? The progressive drinking water supply of the Middle Ages and the organization of the well system are also discussed. You will learn why a dispute over drinking water in 1665 triggered a "small Weyber uprising" and why the Fribourg system was considered particularly modern. We will introduce you to a few selected wells and explain current water supply issues. - Registration required.
