Euro Summer Classics

In keeping with the European Men's Football Championship, the Freiburg Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of André de Ridder will be performing a cross-section of European cultures. The German Richard Wagner deals with the subject matter of THE FLYING HOLANDER, the Frenchman Georges Bizet enchants us with the Spanish story of CARMEN, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy takes us first into the staggeringly magical world of SUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM by the English William Shakespeare and then to the land where the lemons blossom with his Symphony No. 4. Once there, Gioachino Rossini lets us know how the Italian Isabella wraps everyone around her finger and Johannes Brahms lets us shake a leg to Hungarian dances. We experience six nations in one concert, without competition. There are only winners here.
