Opening concert Whitsun Festival - HARMONY OF ETERNITY

From June 6 to 9, the St. John's Church in Freiburg will host the Whitsun Festival for the fourth time.
The Whitsun Festival, under the artistic direction of district cantor Stephan Rahn and with the kind support of the Archbishop Hermann Foundation, aims to explore the sound space of St. John's Church in a variety of ways in concerts and services, tracing the tension between spiritual traditions and avant-garde music.
In 2025, the Whitsun Festival will focus on three anniversary composers: Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Arvo Pärt and Bertold Hummel.

The festival kicks off on Friday, June 6 at 8 p.m. with a concert celebrating Palestrina's 500th birthday, performed by the ensemble officium under the direction of Wilfried Rombach with works by Palestrina and Pärt.
