Not applicable: Anne de Marcken: It lasts forever and then it's over - Bilingual reading and conversation with René Freudenthal
Tuesday, 06/05/2025 / 07:00 PM / Alte Universität (old University)
The event is canceled!
Our heroine is in the afterlife. She lives in the hotel of the undead, has one arm too few, but one crow too many. She can't remember her name or her childhood. She has only one precious memory left "after the great catastrophe" - the echo of a strong feeling, the image of a person, with her, in the dunes. So she sets off to the west, to the sea, in search of what was once important in her life.
Cunning, mysterious and incredibly well told: With "Es währt für immer und dann ist es vorbei" (Suhrkamp, 2025, translated from English by Clemens J. Setz), the US writer, artist and publisher Anne de Marcken has achieved a great success, winning the Novel Prize 2022 and the Ursula K. Le Guin Prize for Fiction 2024. The conversation in English will be conducted by René Freudenthal (Carl-Schurz-Haus), the German text will be read by Doris Wolters.
