Encaustic painting for beginners and advanced students

Encaustic painting was already known in Ancient Egypt and among the ancient Greeks: They liquefied color particles bound in wax and applied them to stone, wood or ivory. Today, new tools are available for this technique that make the work much easier: colored wax is melted with a special "painting iron" (like a small iron) and applied to paper. It is always amazing and surprising to see the variety of shapes and color combinations that can be created: e.g. a landscape, a flower or an abstract picture. There are no limits to creativity. The result looks elegant and can be used as a picture or card.encaustic painting requires no previous knowledge. Those who already have experience will receive new tips and suggestions.

Course instructor: Himmelsbach, Brigitte. The course instructor has been working with this technique for years; there have been two exhibitions at the Waldhof so far; examples of her work can be seen in the display case in front of the Waldhof Academy teaching room.
