Dorothea Gädeke and Michael Kiedaisch: Hans Arno Joachim - Der Flaneur am Fenster - Musical reading in the Gegenworte series

Book tickets

Hans Arno Joachim, born in Freiburg: an almost unknown Jewish writer. In Berlin during the Weimar Republic, he made a rapid career as an essayist, radio playwright and literary critic. He empathically slips into the shoes of young people experiencing the transition from the Empire, the "moustachioed age", to the Republic. He comments on the spirit of optimism with precision and clairvoyance. His topic is more topical than ever: what social circumstances favor the rise of dictators? In addition to excerpts from Joachim's work, speaker and performer Dorothea Gädeke will read texts by Peter Huchel, Joseph Roth and Hans Sahl, accompanied by vibraphonist Michael Kiedaisch.

This edition of the "Gegenworte" series takes place in cooperation with the Museum für Neue Kunst (Museum of Contemporary Art), which is showing the exhibition "Modern Times - Pictures of the 1920s" until February 16.
