Two dance pieces, two styles, an exciting dialog: The Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company juxtaposes two of its works, allowing very different choreographic worlds to collide: Ioannis Mandafounis and William Forsythe! Hardly anyone has turned classical dance on its head like William Forsythe. He is considered one of the most innovative innovators of ballet and has had a lasting influence on generations of dancers. Now - after more than ten years - the choreographic icon has once again created a work in Frankfurt: CIVIL SOCIETY: UNDERTAINMENT. Frankfurt is closely associated with William Forsythe as a central location for his many years of creative work: He directed the Ballett Frankfurt from 1984 and founded The Forsythe Company there after its closure in 2004, from which the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company eventually emerged in 2015. In his new piece, Forsythe develops his own structure from an improvisational kit. A structure that does not aim to represent anything else, but rather stands on its own and unfolds its charm precisely from this. Like in a kaleidoscope, new patterns are constantly emerging: clearly framed, but full of surprises and twists. The dancers dive deep into this system, which they themselves create, and explore it to its limits. LISA then takes the audience on an extraordinary journey - right into the world of the 1930s. Based on the method of live choreography developed by Ioannis Mandafounis, a space full of possibilities is created on stage. The dancers themselves decide in real time when to appear and disappear from the stage. These spontaneous changes constantly create new dynamics: two people meet and suddenly a lively group scene emerges. Seconds later, a dancer is suddenly all alone on stage and an unexpectedly touching solo unfolds. In LISA, the dance merges with the music of Gabriel Fauré, played live by pianist Gabriele Cercano, and the poems of poet Ossip Mandelstam - a combination that brings poetry, movement and sound together in a very special way.
