This pre-Advent concert features two cantatas composed by Bach that could hardly be more different.

Du Friedefürst, Herr Jesu Christ
This Bach cantata, which was first performed 300 years ago in November, expresses an urgent plea for peace and is therefore still relevant today.

Awake, the voice calls to us.
Wilhelm Nelle, a great hymnbook expert, described the hymn "Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme", which was composed around 1600, as the "king of chorales".
Bach composed one of the most beautiful, well-known and joyful cantatas from it.
