The expectation
Saturday, 08/02/2025 / 07:30 PM / Theater Freiburg - Large House
Just not to the north-northwest, or was it north-northeast? A huge cyclone - the size of half of England - is expected and puts everyone in a state of emergency: how to determine the cardinal points, where to seek safety and who to trust? Could your best friend be a "panic berserker"? Who will become a lone fighter in an emergency, who will save their own skin first, who will risk their life for an endangered species? Three friends, a married couple, an old man, an insect lover and a goat seek shelter in the dense fog and discover surprising truths about themselves in the process. Only one couple refuses to believe the "climate catastrophe script" and happily barbecues in the garden. But what if they, of all people, are right and the catastrophe doesn't happen after all? Or will everything turn out quite differently than expected ... In her doomsday tale, playwright Theresia Walser uses grotesque situations to explore how different people react in the face of impending catastrophe: What can we expect from ourselves, from our fellow human beings, from predictions - and what from nature? Theresia Walser has written DIE ERWARTUNG especially for the Theater Freiburg acting ensemble, which she knows very well from frequent and regular visits to performances. Look forward to a humorously abysmal, all too human disaster fantasy directed by Peter Carp!
