Fake news has become a real threat. The situation is exacerbated by AI-generated photos and videos that can be deceptively real. Disinformation can undermine democratic institutions and processes, such as elections, and contribute to the division of societies. The EU is also strongly affected by this and wants to raise awareness among citizens.

What exactly is disinformation and how can you check whether information is true or false? How do I recognize whether images and videos are real, manipulated or created with AI?
