DAVE GROSSMANN (* 1989 in Jena) dedicates his work to the relationship between chaos and rhythm. Under the motto "Between Falling and Folding", Dave Grossmann is exhibiting works at the foundation that juxtapose tilting into disorder with folding as an active process of ordering. The shades of chance and intervention are explored here and revealed as a complex system.
Dave Grossmann constructs his relief-like pictures from OSB boards, which he coats with a chalk base in order to reveal the layers of the boards. In further approaches, he paints over the chalk base with graphite or acrylic. This results in very sensual works that live from the form as well as the materiality of the paint application. Dave Grossmann will intervene in the space with a temporary work applied to the wall.
Dave Grossmann lives and works in Berlin. Before devoting himself entirely to the visual arts, he worked as a professional dancer for twenty years. His approach to the subject of space is shaped by this experience. In 2024, one of his murals was shown as part of the exhibition "24! Questions to the Concrete Present" exhibition at the Museum of Concrete Art in Ingolstadt and was subsequently purchased. Dave Grossmann is an established figure in the Berlin art scene. He is also the editor of the multi-award-winning magazine KWER.
