Catherine Le Ray / Frédéric Langlais:
"Piaf - Au Bal des Amours"
On Thursday, October 10, 1963, the weekly magazine PARIS MATCH wrote: "... she belonged to the sidewalks and rooftops of Paris like the cooing of pigeons - today Piaf is dead, someone is missing in Paris."
The well-known Parisian singer Catherine Le Ray and the virtuoso accordionist Frédéric Langlais would like to pay tribute to this eternal cult figure of the "chanson of love". With alternating French chansons describing Piaf's Paris and autobiographical stories in German, Catherine Le Ray awakens a life full of pain and euphoria in us, where experience and song intermingle, where poetry and truth merge.
A musical delight not only for Francophiles, where classics such as "Milord"
and "Je ne regrette rien" will not be missed.
Frédéric Langlais not only became French accordion
champion in 1993, but also the youngest accordion world champion
the following year, in 1994, at the age of just 16. He has received numerous prizes for his work,
including the Prix Sacem (1993) and the Prix Francis Baxter (2002).
France's best-selling newspaper "Ouest-France" writes:
"... without imitating, Catherine Le Ray sings with talent, passion,
authenticity and charm ... her remarkable performance moves the
audience, it's fireworks!"
Die Süddeutsche Zeitung; "Magnificent homage to the sparrow of Paris ...
Catherine Le Ray has enough voice and charisma to do justice to her role model
Edith Piaf"
Frankfurter Rundschau "The petite Frenchwoman with the powerful voice
reminded us again and again of the great Piaf ... Catherine Le Ray sang and all
hummed along ... "
