Carl Orff - Carmina Burana

Book tickets

Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana" is a perennial favorite on concert stages around the world. According to his music publisher, the "Carmina" was the most frequently performed composition of "serious music" in the 20th century. This success was not necessarily foreseeable when the composer set a collection of medieval texts in the "dead" languages of Latin, Middle High German and Old French in 1935. But with the wheel of fortune of Fortuna, the goddess of fate, which is sung in an impressive chorus at the beginning and end of "Carmina", Orff created an unprecedented worldwide success: timelessly valid music on the great themes of human existence, shaped into stirring forces of sound whose fascination and beauty are deeply moving.

As part of the "Münsterplatzkonzerte", founded in 2023, the Albert Konzerte will present Carl Orff's singular masterpiece with the Freiburg Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of General Music Director André de Ridder together with the Freiburg Theater Opera Chorus and the Camerata Vocale Freiburg. Star soprano Olga Peretyatko, the internationally acclaimed baritone Markus Werba and the outstanding tenor Roberto Gionfriddo guarantee great vocal artistry and international splendor.

Look forward to a rousing and moving, in short: unforgettable open-air concert event in a unique atmosphere on the summery Münsterplatz!
