In this extraordinary concert program, everything revolves around one
of the most important staple foods. The German-French choir
explores the basic elements of bread baking: the earth as the basis
for grain and salt, water, time and fire. A piece of music is dedicated to each element
, such as "Earth" by Katerina Gimon.
Various perspectives on the bread are inserted between the elements.
From music that can be heard at the table (Heinrich Schütz "Das Benedicite
vor dem Essen") to pieces on the subject of bread in general
(Mimi Farina "Bread and Roses") to the spiritual perspective, such as
for example with César Franck's "Panis Angelicus" or the traditional
spiritual "Let us break bread together". The program includes mostly
a cappella works and ranges from the 17th to the 21st century,
supplemented by organ contributions with Lukas Grimm.
The audience is invited to experience this
concert with all their senses through specific explanations by the young, innovative baker Patrick
Spitz, including a live tasting.
