BrAInWorlds: The world in our heads
Thursday, 13/03/2025 / 05:30 PM - 09:00 PM / NEXUS Experiments - Center BrainLinks-BrainTools
Free entry
The BrainLinks-BrainTools center invites you to an interactive event with scientific presentations where visitors can experience the dynamics of internal world models.
How do we perceive the world around us? Why do we find our way around a foreign city? And why can we behave appropriately in a social context, such as a visit to a restaurant? The answers to these questions lie in our internal world models - mental representations of reality that are based on our experiences, observations and knowledge. They help us to make predictions, fill in missing information and move purposefully in the world. But how exactly do these internal world models develop and change? What do they have to do with mental disorders such as depression or psychosis? And how does artificial intelligence see the world?
These and other exciting questions are the focus of "BrAInWorlds: The world inside our heads". The interactive format invites visitors to put their own perception of the world to the test. Through a series of lectures, hands-on stations and interactive installations, participants can experience first-hand how our brains construct reality - and the challenges this poses for humans and artificial intelligence.
Participants can expect a selection of interactive group activities or individual tasks that not only challenge their own perception, but also illustrate how differently people process and interpret information. Here you can experience how our internal model of the world adapts depending on our environment and experience.
This is a public event as part of Brain Awareness Week, an international initiative of the Dana Foundation.
