What Gründgens is to Goethe, Lafrenz is to Shakespeare - at least for lovers of cultivated cabaret. Because instead of the theater temple, Bernd Lafrenz seeks the intimacy of the cabaret stage for his free-spirited adaptations of Shakespeare classics. Incidentally, "Hamlet" is on the program today.
Revenge and intrigue - normally the subject matter of Shakespeare's "Hamlet" is a feast for the tabloid press: A fratricide and patricide that the son and heir to the throne is supposed to atone for and who ultimately loses his own life after all kinds of intrigues and crosses of blades. Of course, the whole thing is garnished with friendship and love - the plot of the stage classic with the famous quote from To Be or Not to Be is familiar to every theater lover.
