In its program "Bach and Vivaldi", the Freiburg baroque ensemble Klangweber continues the tradition of its last programs of adapting well-known compositions that were not originally written for the recorder.
This time the focus is on Bach's works for keyboard instruments. An organ trio sonata and two-part inventions will be heard. These will be juxtaposed with works by Antonio Vivaldi. Antonio Vivaldi's compositions had a significant influence on Bach's musical output and style. Bach transcribed several of Vivaldi's concerti for harpsichord and organ solo. One of these concerti, as well as two expressive and virtuoso sonatas - a violin sonata arranged for recorder and one for violoncello - will be heard in the concert. The adaptation of works by other instruments was a common practice in the Baroque era and was even announced by composers such as Telemann in prefaces to his compositions.
Founded in 2015, Barockensemble Klangweber specializes in the repertoire for pieces with the recorder as a solo instrument. Johanna Weber, Monika Ecker and Adhi Jacinth Tanumihardja met while studying at the Institute for Historical Performance Practice at the Freiburg University of Music. Since its foundation, the ensemble has given concerts in the Freiburg and Stuttgart area.
