Exhibition on the German Urban Development Award

Exhibition on the German Urban Development Award

Last year, two Freiburg projects - the "Heat Climate Adaptation Concept" and "Freiburg Weingarten - Housing for All" - were awarded the German Urban Development Prize. Together with the 13 other award-winning projects, they can be seen at the Protestant University of Applied Sciences Freiburg at the beginning of July.

The German Urban Design Award is the most important award for sustainable and innovative urban design projects. The exhibition, which is being shown jointly by the Urban Planning Office and the Protestant University of Applied Sciences Freiburg, offers an exciting insight into the diversity and creativity of German urban planning culture. It shows how urban development can help shape a future worth living in and take into account the current requirements of contemporary lifestyles and the challenges of designing public spaces.

In addition to the two Freiburg projects, the Werksviertel from Munich, the Holstenfleet from Kiel, the Pergolenviertel from Hamburg, the Olga Areal from Stuttgart and the new "balan" campus from Munich will also be presented. The Middle Paderquell area in Paderborn, which received the special prize for "Shaping climate adaptation", will also be presented.

For more than 40 years, the German Association of Cities and Towns' Urban Development Award has been honoring outstanding urban development projects that promote forward-looking planning and urban development culture. It is awarded every two years by the German Academy for Urban and Regional Planning and is supported by the Wüstenrot Foundation.
