To the next 40! - Freiburg bands congratulate the ZMF

After this decision, the festival team was faced with a tricky question: with four weeks to go until the 40th Tent Music Festival Freiburg and a free evening in the circus tent - what to do?
In challenging moments, you turn to good friends. And so the ZMF team got talking to long-time ZMF friends The Brothers.
Loyal fans will certainly remember the "Freiburg Evenings" organized by The Brothers in 1993, 2002, 2006 and 2010.
2024 is a special year for the ZMF and on Sunday, 28 July, a number of Freiburg bands and artists will be paying their respects to the festival on its 40th birthday and performing an atmospheric evening for visitors.
Freiburg's first lady of jazz, Cécile Verny (ZMF Prize 1995), will present pieces from her second project "Mein Liedgut", which she developed with guitarist Johannes Maikranz (ZMF Prize 2018). Up-and-coming singer-songwriter Laura Braun will take her place at the grand piano and fill every corner of the tent roof with her haunting songs. Sascha Bendiks, a sharp-tongued song poet with a rough exterior and a tender core, tells, sings, screams and spits his stories. Unduzo (with Julian Knörzer, ZMF Prize 2007), renowned a cappella export from Freiburg, is looking forward to a home game.
And finally, The Brothers (ZMF Prize 1992), who are celebrating their 45th stage anniversary this year and who will be performing excerpts from their extensive repertoire of their own and other people's songs, some of them with guests. (Including, for example, Ahmed Abdelali on the oud.)
The grand finale will be rocking when Oli Meier and the brothers "ignite" Fireworks of Rock - melodious and vocally sophisticated rock classics from the 70s à la Purple, Boston, Foreigner or Queen.
