თავისუფლება! Tavisupleba! Freedom! Georgians have been protesting loudly for months on the streets of Tbilisi and throughout the country for a free and European future. While their country's government is saying goodbye to Europe and liberal democratic values, people have been taking to the streets incessantly calling for freedom, თავისუფლება!
A photography exhibition in Freiburg highlights the ongoing pro-European protests in Georgia. The exhibition shows how vehemently civil society there is fighting for Europe. At the same time, these images act as a mirror that makes it clear to us that we must defend our European values in the heart of Europe and not jeopardize them lightly.
Photographers Juda Khatia Psuturi, Nestan Rimple and Sébastien Canaud live in Tbilisi and are artistically exploring the protests on location. They show moments of despair and violence, hope and solidarity.
The exhibition is conceived as a traveling exhibition and financed with city support. The exhibition will begin in the pop-up store "The Naked Ape". From May 12 to 18, 2025, the photographs will be shown at the FABRIK as part of the "Das gute Leben" festival there. Further exhibition venues are being planned.
