And Also The Trees

It was in the early 80s that John Peel described AND ALSO THE TREES (AATT) as "too English for the English", perhaps one reason why founding member and singer Simon Huw Jones has been living in Geneva, Switzerland, for some time. He not only controls AATT from there, but also maintains a side project with THE YOUNG GODS drummer Bernhard Trontin. AATT were associated with THE CURE early on (AATT toured with THE CURE twice in the early 80's) and Robert Smith always said that AATT was his favorite band, which ultimately led to Smith and THE CURE keyboardist Lawrence Tolhurst producing some of AATT's early releases. That was all a long time ago and the band's current sound is far more sophisticated, mature and with more "industrial white man's blues" charm than in the early years - including wonderful old-school indie guitars. Today the band members live in Worcestershire, Geneva and East London.
