16 days against violence against women

16 days against violence against women

Freiburg alliance takes part in the global campaign once again

The Freiburg Action Alliance, a network of women's and human rights organizations, focuses on the topic every year between 25 November, the International Day against Violence against Women, and 10 December, Human Rights Day.

Whether sexual violence, coercion, domestic violence, stalking or femicide: women are still not effectively protected from violence. The Freiburg network is drawing attention to this for 16 days: with posters and banners, lectures and readings, films, exhibitions, workshops, installations in public spaces and a flash mob. The events aim to shake people up and show the alarming extent and ubiquity of violence against women and girls.

Violence against women is the most common human rights violation worldwide. The campaign calls for a life free of violence for all women in all countries, for women on the run or for those who are denied the right to self-determination over their own bodies.

The events are offered independently by the respective associations. The overall program of the campaign days is supported by the city's Office for Equal Rights for Women, which also draws attention to violence against women with posters in public spaces.
