Fribourg carnival

The storming of the town hall on "Schmutzige Dunschtig" marks the beginning of the high season of Freiburg's carnival: In the afternoon, all of Freiburg's carnival guilds come together on the town hall square. The mayor hands over the key to the town hall to the head guild master on the town hall balcony and the Fasnetrufer bring the freshly cut fool's tree in the city forest the day before. After the fool's tree is set up, the actual carnival days begin.
