The Broken Jug
A jug has been broken in Eve's room. Marthe Rull, Eve's mother, accuses Ruprecht, Eve's fiancé. But Ruprecht has seen a stranger in Eve's room. The neighbor believes that the devil himself broke the jug. Eve remains silent. Village magistrate Adam is now asked to solve the case. But he tries to cover up the truth. In 1811, Heinrich von Kleist writes a comedy that should actually be a tragedy. It is about sexual coercion, abuse of power and a young woman who does not dare to speak. Director Yana Eva Thönnes breaks Eve's silence. She moves the action from the courtroom to Marthe's house. Eve invites her friends to a pyjama party. Her mother closes the door and a role-playing game begins: does Eve dare to tell her friends what happened? What would happen if she accused Village Judge Adam? The game gets out of hand. The jug breaks.
